Family Kitchen Cooking

For this class the minimum age to take part is 8. All under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult. The ticket price is for one adult and one child under 16.

One additional child can accompany the adult and child for an additional charge of 20 euros (payable on the day).

This is fun and hopefully useful in the family kitchen!  A chance at an early age to learn the skills to make some of our favourite dishes and prove that nimble fingers can produce some great food, not least when the kids fill and crimp empanadillas. For mums, dads, grandparents, a chance to rethink and tweak a few skills too.

Plenty to eat throughout the morning and lots of food chat as families cook together. It has a sensible pace, includes at least 2 short breaks and is inclusive of all participants throughout, though our class will be fast moving enough so the younger guests don’t switch off.  We’ll go through the do’s and don’ts in the kitchen including hygiene; aprons provided.

As well as techniques the focus is always on the amazing food we have around us here with the hope that the younger ones will become more food and produce aware as they walk around the markets and supermarkets.

We’ll start with our late, late breakfast…but our breakfast will be different too because you’ll have to make it yourself! So as quickly as possibly we’ll roll out and shape the pizza dough and make a special English Breakfast Pizza….you can leave mushrooms out kids! After breakfast which includes freshly squeezed orange juice and plenty of food chat, we’ll get back to cooking.

Staying in Italy we’ll make our own pasta, rolling it and drying it. Then we’ll talk sauces, talking about our favourites and what ingredients might be in them. We’ll take a vote on which of two sauces to prepare from scratch and get on with cooking it. A decent taste for everyone.

Before we return to Spain we’ll bake a yummy Carrot Cake.

Whilst the cake is in the oven the younger hands will be preparing a couple of Basque-style pinchos tapas from a plate of ingredients - could get competitive.

Finally, we’ll make our own hand crafted empanadillas. That means rolling out pastry, filling and crimping. Plenty of tasting at the end.

A good-sized piece of cake to take home.

Birthday parties on Saturdays or Sundays with a relaxed 2 x 45 minutes cookery class tailor-made with food and fun are possible, from sushi making to pizzas.  We’ll make a cake and do some cake decorating. There will be a pasta identifying competition too. Ricky M classes are far from being like school - just fun and a dash of learning. Please email Ricky.
